Giving Opportunities : Annual Giving Campaign : Donor Recognition EventDonor Recognition Event
Annual Giving “Wine” & Cheese Event
By Ronda Kent (Ben & Maya Kirch)
Parents, board members, and other friends of Evergreen School all spent a wonderful evening last Saturday night (May 17) reflecting on the success of the 2007-2008 Annual Giving Campaign and enjoying a heartfelt “thank you.” Whether a donor gave $10 or $1,000, we were all treated by the Board of Trustees to an adult evening of socializing, champagne tasting, and a big “thank you” at the home of Glen (Board Member) and Lana Orloff (Evan). “Hats off” to our development director, Amy Holland, and Deirdre Holton-Jennings (Board Member and Parent to Adair and Amelia Holton) for organizing the lovely evening.
Our returning sommelier, Shardy of Morris Liquors, educated us about the secrets of champagne-making while helping us truly respect and enjoy the taste of many different types of champagne. It was a fitting conclusion to an amazing achievement and milestone for Evergreen School. Thanks to the generosity of our community, Evergreen School raised more than $22,500 this year! Significantly, we surpassed last year’s outstanding parent participation rate by reaching 81% participation!!! Although not surprising given the commitment of our community to our teachers and children, it is noteworthy that our participation rate surpasses the average parent participation rate at independent schools in the Washington D.C. area.
As 6th year Evergreen parents, my husband, John, and I remain truly appreciative for all that the Evergreen teachers and staff do for our children and their friends. While it is certainly nice to be thanked by Evergreen for our time and treasure, our contributions to the school cannot compare to the important work being done for and with our children on a daily basis.
