![]() Special Programs Evergreen School Early Bird - 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Evergreen responds to the needs of the families whose schedules require an early start. Early Bird children engage in a variety of activities, such as reading, drawing, arts and crafts, puzzles and game play. The class size is small and allows for more teacher-student interaction. The goal of the program is to provide care for the children and to ease their transition into the regular day. Evergreen School Extended Day - 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The Extended Day program carries the Montessori principles beyond the end of the academic school day. The atmosphere is warm and familiar and the schedule is paced to include periods of stimulating activity as well as opportunities for quiet relaxation. Extended Day activities include: indoor/outdoor play, arts and crafts, story time, baking projects and creative games. The Extended Day also has an academic/homework component, for the elementary students. These sessions provide time for children to complete their daily academic assignments and homework. Participants are under the supervision and guidance of a highly qualified teacher of the Evergreen staff. This teacher stays in regular contact with the classroom teachers about the progress and individual needs of each Extended Day student. Special events are a weekly component of the program, and consist of guests, special projects, and group activities. Guests have included storytellers, puppeteers, magicians, clowns and naturalists. Group activities often celebrate a particular season or event with picnics, parties, field days and/or sing-alongs. As the day winds down we are responsive to the needs of the children with quiet story times, table top games and increased individual attention. Evergreen School Holiday Care - Winter and Spring Breaks This program provides care for children on selected days during the extended breaks of the academic year. The program's main focus is on having fun. The Holiday Care teaching staff supervises the children in well planned, exciting events, field trips, festive projects, and games. Co - Curricular Programs
