Fieldtrip Highlights
The Summer Day Camp takes its campers on weekly field trips to a variety of destinations around the Washington, DC area. As an extension of the camp’s weekly theme, these field trips not only provide campers with a fun filled outing but all field trip share an educational element in which the campers can explore and learn during the summer months that they are away from school. With our camper age being 3.5 to 10 years, all field trips focus on programs appropriate for the camper’s age.
Some of Evergreen’s past summer field trips have been a behind the scene tours of The Kennedy Center, hands-on workshops at the National Gallery and Corcoran Gallery of Art near the National Mall, learning about colonial toys and games at Tudor Place in Georgetown, a sushi making class at Whole Foods, a performance at Imagination Stage in Bethesda, scavenger hunts at the Newseum and International Spy Museum, berry picking at Homestead Farm, wildlife exploration at the Patuxent Wildlife Center in Laurel, the National Air and Space Museum for a space workshop where campers tasted astronaut food, to the local Fire Station and Brookside Gardens to learn about local life near Evergreen.
