Admissions

Evergreen does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, national origin, or political belief. The school does not utilize specific academic entrance requirements. We do, however, screen all applicants for suitability into the program.

All applicants to Evergreen School must go through the admissions procedure. This includes an interview by the Head of School with the child and his or her parents. For students applying for the Elementary Department, a 3-day visit is a part of the application process. A student's special needs must be manageable in the Montessori classroom without detriment to the rest of the class. The school makes every reasonable attempt to guide children to success in the program. All new students are admitted with a 60-day probationary status.

Students may enter from September through the first school day in March. The application and enrollment process continues throughout the year.

The application for admission should be returned to the school along with a non-refundable application fee. When the school office receives this form, the Head of School will schedule an intake interview. Upon acceptance to Evergreen School, the parent(s) or guardian(s) needs to sign and return the enrollment contract along with the tuition deposit. These are due in the school office within 2 weeks of your receipt of the acceptance letter in order to reserve a place for your child. All payment terms apply to new students, but due dates may be adjusted to reflect the date of acceptance.

Re-enrollment
The re-enrollment deadline is in early March. A non-refundable enrollment deposit and a signed enrollment contract will hold a place for your child. Students generally are not scheduled to visit the next level until re-enrollment has been received. The re-enrollment deposit will be credited to the final scheduled tuition payment as contained in the contract.

Current families wishing to re-enroll after the deadline may be required to reapply to the school. Spaces vacated by current families will be awarded immediately to new applicants.

Admissions Codes of Ethics
Membership in professional associations affects our admission policies as we adhere to the Codes of Ethics of those associations:
  • Upon receipt of an application, the school presumes that parents have notified the school presently attended by the applicant of the intention to apply elsewhere.
  • A school will not accept a student from another school without an exchange of information between officials of the two schools. Parents are encouraged to share with the schools their concerns about duplicate applications, duplicate tests, dates for notification of acceptance, or acceptance of re-enrollment.
  • No school shall require a parent commitment for enrollment of newly accepted students prior to March 1st. Parents are requested to inform all schools to which they have applied when they do not want further consideration of the applicant for the coming academic year.
