Q: Do you have a part-time program?
A: All classes are five days a week. Children under 5 have a half-day option.
Q: What are the hours of the school day?
A: The regular school day is 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The half-day option for children under 5 years old is 8:30 a.m. until noon.
Q: Should I send my child full day or half day?
A: At about age 5, children enter the Academic Afternoon program and are required to stay full day. Children ages 2-1/2 to 4 years may attend either half day or full day. If they attend full day, they would participate in our supervised nap program or our Nest program, which provides for a short period of rest and multiple age-appropriate activities.
Q: Does my child have to be toilet trained?
A: Children do not need to be toilet trained for Toddler class. Yes, if children are joining the Primary class. Any child who is at least 2-1⁄2 years old; who has developed a regular awareness of when and how to use the toilet, therefore no longer needing protective undergarments or having accidents on a regular basis; and who is able to fully care for him/herself in the bathroom is eligible for admission.
Q: Do you provide lunch?
A:
No. Lunches should contain non-perishable foods, as Evergreen School does not provide refrigeration for student lunches. On Thursdays a lunch of pizza, carrots, and apple juice is available for a small charge.
Q: Do you provide snacks?
A:
A snack is provided in the morning and in the after-school program.
Q: Do you offer Spanish lessons?
A:
Spanish lessons are given to children 4 years old and older.
Q: Do you have before and after-care?
A:
Before-care is available from 7:30 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.; after-care is available from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Q: What is the teacher/student ratio?
A:
The maximum student capacity in each classroom, based on the size of the classroom, ranges from 11 to 20 students. Each classroom is staffed with two adults, at least one of whom is a certified Montessori teacher.
